Biography

Mrs. Rachel Regina Sandi is a mother of two, and is a distinguished Public Health  and Community Specialist Practitioner with over 28 years of experience in the National Health Service (NHS), United Kingdom. She has excelled in secondary and primary care, particularly adult nursing. As a Specialist Community Nurse and Public Health Practitioner, she has held other critical roles, Clinical Lead, and Lead Care Coordinator, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, UK. Her contributions to policy development within the District Nursing Service in Brent NHS have significantly reduced hospital admissions and improved community-based healthcare.

 

Beyond her service in the UK, Mrs. Sandi has dedicated over five years to humanitarian work in Sierra Leone through the Afro-European Medical and Research Network (AEMRN) and Serve United, delivering healthcare to under-served communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a vital role in health promotion, education, and vaccination efforts in the London Borough of Brent.

She holds a Master’s degree in Global Public Health from Queen Mary University London, a Bachelor of Science in Community Practice and Nurse Prescriber qualification from Brunel University London. She is a Registered General Nurse from Thames Valley University, London.

 

Since July 2024, Mrs. Sandi has served as Deputy National Technical One Health Coordinator at the National Public Health Agency in Freetown, Sierra Leone, fostering collaboration among core ministries and stakeholders to strengthen disease prevention and control, especially zoonotic diseases. She works across various divisions to establish a framework implementing mechanisms to maintain the One Health approach - a multi-sectorial strategy that combines animal, environmental, and human health interventions at district, national and international levels.
