As Sierra Leone continues its high-alert mode for MPOX in border districts, the Kailahun District Health Management Team (DHMT), along with other key health actors, engaged traditional healers in a crucial awareness-raising session today, 29th August 2024, at the Kailahun District Council Hall. The session brought together traditional healers from across the district, aiming to educate them on the community case definition of MPOX and the necessary actions to take if/when they encounter anyone with a rash and a history of fever. The event was graced by the presence of Bryan Hunt, U.S. Ambassador, who made a stop at the orientation site. Dr. Juana, Medical Superintendent of Kailahun, provided updates on the various partners' interventions in the district and called for continued support. Baindu Agutha Kosia, Country Director of Jhpiego, along with members of the Chiefdom and District One Health Risk Communication and Community Engagement Actors and representatives from Breakthrough ACTION, were also in attendance. This vital activity was supported by Jhpiego with funds from the American people.
