The National Public Health Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Welfare, has Thursday, 4 July 2024, held a day-long meeting with Hajj Committee members to address the return of Hajj Pilgrims.
The meeting held at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the NPHA, was attended by senior members of the NPHA and the Ministry of Social Welfare. It addressed the mechanisms put in place to receive Sierra Leonean compatriots who are returning from Hajj, but are engulfed in Covid-19 concerns. During the meeting, guidelines were discussed regarding self-isolation protocols, testing requirements, and health monitoring procedures for the returning pilgrims. The agency emphasized the importance of following these measures to prevent the spread of the virus within the community.
In a similar endeavor , a press conference was held on even date to brief the forth estate on the proactive measures put in place by the agency. The conference hoped to get the media to adequately and accurately inform publics about the necessary precautions and steps being taken to ensure the safety of everyone involved and for the healthy needs of all Sierra Leoneans. The agency implores the public to cooperate and adhere to the guidelines in order to minimise the risk of transmission.
